RENEGADE is a collection inspired by rebellion and revolution. In light of the many things happening in today’s society many people are choosing to unite in order to rightfully reclaim control over their interests, identities, and their lives. These people are faced with a broken system that is in need of a repair that is beneficial to ALL. This inspiration led me to design garments with layered effects, bold prints and colors, and deconstructed elements, which represent the complexity of identity in relation to revolution and the idea of mending a damaged society.
Flat pattern-making, Gerber Accumark, hand-dyeing, and digital printing were used to create RENEGADE.
VIOLET SOLID BACKED CANVAS, BLACK HONEYCOMB MESH, BLACK KNIT PLEATHER, SOLID STRETCH NEOPRENE, BLACK RIBBED COTTON VELVETEEN, cotton duck, and BLACK RIB KNIT TRIM were materials used in the creation of renegade.

Initially being inspired the show's design themes, “Equity” and “Wear What You Are”, I thought about my experiences in regards to self-love, confidence, and beauty. Black Women need even more self-confidence since we’re so overlooked by the rest of society. With this in mind, I thought about what it would take to make Black Women feel beautiful? What will make them feel worthy, good enough, loved, secure, and beautiful? My collection displays an idealistic image in my head of Equity, giving Black Women what they need to feel beautiful. I envision Black Women in luxurious folds of fabric, stand out colors, oiled skin to show off their complexion, braids to embrace their true hair texture. I envision my collection inspiring others to truly embrace who they are, their culture and their being.
